Creating knockout competitions involves setting up a structured tournament where teams compete in a series of matches, with losers being eliminated at each stage until a final winner is determined. 

This guide outlines a step-by-step process for setting up knockout competitions using ***Dribl***, covering competition and league creation, knockout strategy selection, pool settings, team seeding, fixture configuration, and event visualisation.  
  
Before creating a **knockout draw**, you will need to:

1. **[Create a competition](https://dribl.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LA/pages/16777262)** and select **‘Knockout’** as the competition type.
2. **[Create a league](https://dribl.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LA/pages/143556609)** within the competition.
3. **[Add your teams](https://dribl.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LA/pages/287834127)**[ ](https://dribl.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LA/pages/287834127)to the league.
4. Configure your** ****[Football Calendar](https://dribl.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LA/pages/142475305)**.

Once these steps are completed, you’ll be able to set up and manage your knockout draw.

This ensures your competition is correctly structured and ready for scheduling matches.

1. [Log in to Dribl](https://app.dribl.com).
2. Navigate to the **Knockouts** section on the Dribl platform.
3. Click on   **Create.**
4. Enter Knockout Name.
5. Select Competition.
6. Select League.
7. Select the Number of Teams.  
  
When creating a knockout, select the next highest team bracket (4, 8, 16, 32, etc.), and the system will automatically add byes to fill the draw if needed.
8. Select Knockout Strategy  
**Knockout - Single Elimination’** will appear, which means teams are eliminated after one loss, with winners progressing to the next round until a final winner is decided.
9. Enable Pools (if needed):
  - If you’re using a pool-based knockout format (like the World Cup), select **‘Enable Pools’** to activate pool settings.

| **Ladder Strategy** | Determines how competition points and rankings are calculated and displayed on the ladder (table), based on your selected format and rules. |
| **Pool Max Rounds** | Specify the maximum rounds for each pool. |
| **Select Knockout Structure after Pools** | Determine the knockout structure that will follow the pool stage. |

10. Click on **Next **
11. Configure Teams/Seeding, Move teams to their desired seeding positions.
12. Click on **Next**
13. Set up the fixtures for the knockout rounds

14. Verify the knockout setup and fixture configurations
15. Proceed to Events, and filter to view your knockout competition and event fixtures.
