As of November 2025, there are key changes for BA’s to note in relation to how Member bans and Card Accumulation counts work **for cross competitions** in the Dribl system.

This document will specify each of the changes and advise what config you need to update to ensure your competition configurations remain compliant, reflecting your local policies.

### Summary of key changes

- Member bans will now apply across <u>**all**</u> competitions. If you want to exclude member bans from applying to any other competition (other than the source competition where the ban was picked up), you will need to configure this in system.
- Member bans are now perpetual (no roll over required). If a member has ever picked up a ban (recorded in Dribl), the ban will automatically remain active across all seasons until served.
- Card accumulation count rules - You now explicitly need to specify if you want to include any other competitions (other than source comp) for card accumulation rules.
- BA’s now have the ability to exclude a ban from being served for a member, for a specific match - directly via the match sheet.
- BA’s also now have the ability to exclude an entire other competition from member ban application - directly via the match sheet.
- Member bans will only display in the competition where the offence was received.
- BAs should not recreate or duplicate the ban within their own tenancy.

### What is a Cross Competition?

A "Cross Competition" is any other different competition, other than your currently selected competition. Examples of Cross Competitions include:

·       Club Football vs Social Football categorized competitions

·       Trial Matches vs Club Football regular season

·       Club Football regular season vs Cup Competition (In your own association)

·       Club Football regular season vs Cup Competition (In a different association)

#### Changes for Cross Competition Offence Settings are managed via:

1. **[Competition Types](https://dribl.refined.site/space/LA/180158486/Cross+Competition+Member+Bans+&+Card+Accumulation#1)-Competition-Types---Social-vs-Club-Football)**** - ***Social or Non-Social*: This setting affects application of the card accumulation & member ban exclusion rules.

2. **[Ban Jurisdiction](https://dribl.refined.site/space/LA/180158486/Cross+Competition+Member+Bans+&+Card+Accumulation#2)-Ban-Jurisdiction-%E2%80%93-Local-vs-Global)**** - ***Local or Global*: Define if the bans your members pickup will only apply to your Association (Local), or applicable across all associations (Global) that use Dribl as their competition management system via Offence Rules.

3. **[Card Accumulation Settings](https://dribl.refined.site/space/LA/180158486/Cross+Competition+Member+Bans+&+Card+Accumulation#3)-Card-Accumulation-Settings)** - Define if the offences (cards) accumulated <u>**from **</u><u>other competitions</u> will apply <u>**into**</u><u> the competition you are configuring</u>.

4. **[Member Ban Exclusions](https://dribl.refined.site/space/LA/180158486/Cross+Competition+Member+Bans+&+Card+Accumulation#4)-Member-Ban-Exclusions)**** - **Define if member bans picked up <u>**from **</u><u>other competitions</u> are excluded from applying <u>**into**</u><u> the competition you are configuring</u>.

5. **[Member Ban Management](https://dribl.refined.site/space/LA/180158486/Cross+Competition+Member+Bans+&+Card+Accumulation#5)-Member-Ban-Management)** – If a member is currently banned, you have the option to Exclude the Ban on a match by match basis or by entire competition. If the ban exclusion tools are utilized, this would make a currently suspended player available to play in the given match.

## 1) Competition Types - Social vs Club Football

You can classify each of your competitions as a Social Football competition or Not Social (Club football competition).

**Social football competition** is less restrictive in competition regulations and competition configuration.

**Not Social (Club Football)** is more restrictive in competition regulations and competition configuration that teams must adhere to.

### Competition Types: Social vs Club Football – how to Configure

1. Login to ***[DRIBL](https://app.dribl.com/signin/)*** web admin

2. Click on the **Competitions** menu

3. Find the relevant competition you wish to configure the competition type for

4. Click on the “**Edit Competition**” icon

5. Scroll down until you a “**Social Football**” heading and tick box

- **Ticked** = This competition is classified a **Social Football** competition
- **UN-ticked** = This competition is classified a **Club Football** competition

### Competition type Social Football or Club Football selection - Offence accumulation and Ban Jurisdiction rules impact

There are 3 main variables that make up config of offence accumulation & Ban Jurisdiction:

·       Cross Competition Offence settings: Card Accumulation & Member Ban Exclusions

·       Competition types:        Social or Non-Social

·       Ban Jurisdiction:              Local or Global

**If you do NOT configure any Card Accumulation Settings** – Card accumulation rules will apply to the Originating Competition ONLY

**If you do NOT configure any Member Ban Exclusions** – Member Ban will apply based on Ban Jurisdiction settings below

### Table representation of how configuration of the “Competition Type” & “Ban Jurisdiction Settings” will take affect

| | | | | |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Competition Type** | Social | Social | Non-Social<br>(Club Football) | Non-Social<br>(Club Football) |
| **Ban Jurisdiction Setting** | Local | Global | Local | Global |
| **Ban will apply to** | All Social Comps In your tenancy only | All Social Comps In your tenancy only | All Non-Social Comps - In your Dribl tenancy only | All Non-Social Comps - Across ALL Dribl tenancies |

## 2) Ban Jurisdiction – Local vs Global

The Ban Jurisdiction setting allows you to specify what level the bans will apply to for the specified competition - either Local or Global for each offence rule.

·       **Local** – Applies **ONLY to your Dribl Tenancy**

·       **Global** – Applies to **ALL Dribl Tenancies **(All Associations that use Dribl as the Competition Management platform for club football competitions)

** **

### Ban Jurisdiction Offence rules – how to configure

Define if the Ban Jurisdiction is local or global for **each Offence rule** via steps below:

1. Login to ***[DRIBL](https://app.dribl.com/signin/)*** web admin

2. Click on the **Offence Rules** menu

3. Select the relevant **Competition** from the drop down list

4. Click on the **Edit** icon next to the Offence Rule you would like to configure the Ban Jurisdiction settings for

5. Under **Ban Jurisdiction** - select Local or Global from the drop down list ** **

> ⚠️ If you have not modified any of your Offence Rules since the update to member bans in Dribl in November 2024, the **default setting** for all Offence Rules is **Global**, meaning the ban will apply across ALL Dribl associations.

### Default Ban Jurisdiction Competition configuration (Optional)

Follow the steps below if you would like to configure what the Default Ban Jurisdiction setting is <u>for any newly created Offence rules</u> created for a specific competition:

1. Login to ***[DRIBL](https://app.dribl.com/signin/)*** web admin

2. Click on the **Competitions** menu

3. Find the relevant competition you wish to configure Ban Jurisdiction rules for

4. Click on the “**Edit Competition**” icon

5. Scroll down until you see the **Default Ban Jurisdiction** heading

6. Select Local or Global from the drop down list

When a <u>New</u> Offence Rule is created for the relevant competition, it will inherit the above default setting. Note this setting can still be changed by modifying each of the Offence Rules.

### Existing Offence rules impact

Existing offence rules are un-affected by the above “set default” steps (only applies to new).

> ⚠️ All <u>Existing</u> club football (Non Social football) **Offence rules** have been set to “Global”, if you wish to modify this – you can editing each of the Offence Rules.

**  **

## 3) Card Accumulation Settings

The “Card Accumulation Settings” function is used to define which OTHER competitions you also want to include for the purpose of card accumulation counts into your specified competition.

An example could be you want to include cards accumulated in your cup competition into the count of cards in your regular season competition (or vice versa). In this example you would perform this config by selecting the “Cross Competition Offence Settings” icon function from the regular season competition as per below steps.

### Card Accumulation Settings – how to configure

How to configure which other competitions you DO want to include for card accumulation purposes into your selected competition

1. Go to the **Competitions **menu
2. Select the **Cross Competition Offence Settings** icon found in the competition line of the relevant competition you do want to bring in offences into (for card count accumulation purposes)
3. Click on the **Card Accumulation Settings** tab
4. Click on the "**+**" icon to Add a new Offence Collection setting
5. Select the relevant **Competition **from the drop down list - this is the **other **Competition you want to include for card accumulation purposes **into** your selected competition.

> 📝 *System logic has been applied that automatically excludes the currently selected competition from the drop-down list, as you only specify other competitions in this step.*

6. Select the relevant **Offence Card Types** - Yellow and/or Red Cards. If <u>any</u> Yellow or <u>any</u> Red Card is received by a participant, this will be included for the purpose of card accumulation counts **into** your selected competition.

7. Click on the **Add** button, then click **Update** Button to save changes.

> 📝 Once the Offence Collection Setting has been created, you will have the option to Edit or Delete the setting if required.

### What happens if i do not configure any Card Accumulation Settings?

If you DO NOT configure any Card Accumulation Settings, this means the offence accumulation count will ONLY apply to the selected competition and will NOT count cards accumulated in any other competition.

## 4) Member Ban Exclusions

The member ban exclusion function allows you to specify which other competition(s) that the member ban will be excluded from (ignored).

An example could be if the member is banned in your cup competition and you specifically exclude that competition (via the member ban exclusion process below), the member would be free to play in your regular season competition and would only be able to serve that ban in your cup competition.

### Member ban exclusions – how to configure

1. Go to the **Competitions **menu
2. Select the **Cross Competition Offence Settings** icon located within the competition line of the relevant competition you do want to set a member ban exclusion for.
3. Click on the **Member Ban Exclusions** tab
4. Click on the "**+**" icon to Add a new member ban exclusion setting
5. Select the source **Tenant** (Association) that hosts the competition(s) that if a participant picks up a member ban in, you do NOT want this ban to apply to your specified competition.
6. **Season **– you only see the tenant current season as the default season (greyed out). Reason being, if the member has any outstanding ban from any season (recorded in Dribl), this ban will carry across perpetually every season until the ban has been served.
7. Select the relevant **Competition **from the drop down list - this is the **other **Competition that if a member has a ban in, that you do NOT want that ban to carry across into the competition you are configuring. This means member can play in your competition that you are configuring but is still banned for the next game of the **other **Competition.
8. Click on the **Add** button, then click **Update** Button to save changes.

### What happens if I do NOT specify any member ban exclusions?

If you do NOT specify a member ban exclusion and you have 2 or more competitions that are classified as the competition type of “Club football” (Social Football unticked), this means the **member ban WILL carry across **and apply to their next match irrespective of the competition.

### What happens if I DO specify member ban exclusions?

If you do setup a Member Ban exclusion and the participant is banned in the other specified competition, you are explicitly saying to ignore that ban and allow the participant to play in the competition you are configuring for.

This means the member would be free to play in your competition that you are configuring, but would remain banned for the next game of the **other **Competition.

## 5) Member Ban Management

A Body Administrator can exclude a ban by going into a match sheet for a suspended member and excluding the ban for them from that match. The Body Administrator can indicate the scope of the ban exclusion being set to be:

- Just for the selected match, for the 1 specific member (or)
- For the entire originating competition that the ban was collected in.

> 📝 This will also remove the application of the ban for anyone else is currently banned in the other competition, also making them free to play and also meaning they would still need to serve the ban in the other competition.

### How to exclude a Ban applying for a single member/single match (or) exclude an entire competition

1. Login to ***[DRIBL](https://app.dribl.com/signin/)*** web admin

2. Click on the **Match Sheets** menu

3. Search for the relevant match sheet, open the match sheet.

4. You can view and manage member bans *(as per screenshot below)*

![image-20241204-052654.png](media://51c35c9c-6a7e-4a5b-a54c-820726217aad)

A)  White Icon (A) represents the functionality to view member bans. Also indicates that this member has no current member bans.

B) Blue Icon (B) represents the functionality to view and manage member ban details for a member who is currently banned (member also has a red “Suspended” label)

C) Green Icon (C) represents the functionality to toggle whether the **Member Ban** is active (green) or not active (red) just for this specific match, for this specific member:

Green = The Member Ban is ACTIVE and Does apply to this Match. Member remains as NOT available for selection and will serve 1 game of their ban in this match.

Red = The Member Ban is now INACTIVE and will not apply to this match – a **Match Exclusion** has been applied; member is now available for selection. *Note - the member ban against this member will remain and will re-appear as suspended in the next match if no management of the ban is taken between matches.*

D) Green Icon (D) represents the functionality to toggle if the entire **Other Competition** that member picked up the ban in, will apply to this competition or not.

> 📝 The other competition that the member has carried the ban across from is listed under the **Competition **heading of the member ban details summary on the match sheet. This would be the other entire competition tat you would be excluding member bans carrying across from.

Green = The Other Competition is INCLUDED as a competition that the member ban carries across from (member remains as NOT available for selection) and will serve 1 game of their ban in this match.

Red = The **Other Competition is EXCLUDED** as a competition that the member ban carries across from. The member IS available for selection and will still need to serve their ban in the other competition.

> ⚠️ *Any other members that have also carried a ban across from this same other competition that you have now excluded *<u>*will also become available for selection*</u>*.*

If you have inadvertently excluded a ban (made it inactive), you have the functionality to re-apply either the Member or Competition ban by reselecting the relevant icon above.

### Audit - How to view who excluded a ban from applying for a Match or Competition

1. Click on the **Member Bans** function in Dribl admin

2. Click the **Member Ban Edit** icon next to the relevant member

3. Scroll to the bottom of the Member Ban Edit screen and you will see 2 headings “Match Exclusions” & “Competition Exclusions”. If either of these exclusions have been applied, the relevant match details will be listed and a column called “**Created By**” will list the name of the person who applied the Match or Competition Ban Exclusion for a member
