OverviewBorrowing Rules are an important part of maintaining integrity across leagues while providing flexibility for clubs to field teams across the competition due to unforeseen circumstances. These rules can be defined at different levels across a Season, including Competition, League, and Team with each allowing varied definitions. |

Borrowing limits can be applied to a specific League in a Competition. The thresholds are applied hierarchically where Competition thresholds are applied (if set), then League thresholds are applied (if set). That is, the League thresholds take precedence over Competition thresholds.
The League also provides an additional level of borrowing rule definition to apply restrictions that align to further competition policies defined by the association or competition organisers. The Borrow Criteria rule builder enables the definition of any rule-based hierarchy. The parameters that can be used in the rules builder are:
- Age: The age the member is turning this calendar year.
- True Age: The current age of the member at the time of being borrowed.
- Team Competition: Enables borrowing inside or outside of the specified competition [tbc].
- Age Group: The age group of the member’s allocated team.
- Team Age Upper Limit: The upper age group limit set of the member’s allocated team.
- Team Age Lower Limit: The lower age group limit set of the member’s allocated team.
- Division Rank: The division priority of the member’s allocated team.
These are used in conjunction with comparison operators to define the rules:
- Less Than
- Greater Than
- Equal To
- Less Than or Equal To
- Greater Than or Equal To
- Not Equal To

Unrestricted borrowing rules can be set across Teams of a club within a competition. This will allow any players of a team to be borrowed into another with no borrowing restrictions or thresholds enforced. Age eligibility limits can, however, be applied (for example, a 16-year-old playing for the U18s should not be allowed to be borrowed into an All-Age Men’s team).
To access and add a team to be an unrestricted borrowing team, complete the following steps:
-
Select Teams from the Actions menu or the main navigation menu.
-
Click(Unrestricted Borrowing) for the Team you want to add a borrowing rule for. The Team Unrestricted Borrowing form is displayed.
-
Click Add an Unrestricted Team.
-
For Allowed Borrowing From Team, select the team from which players can be borrowed without restriction.
-
If required, select Apply Age Restrictions to apply age eligibility limits.
-
Click (Create). Add further unrestricted teams if required.
